Fleur is a contemporary fibre artist based from her rural studio at the top of the South Island, Aotearoa. Celebrated and collected worldwide Fleur’s works are joyful, colour filled, textural pieces inspired by nature. Her highly sought after original hand stitched pieces have been expertly scanned to capture in brilliant detail every stitch and brought to life on new substrates to share her creativity even further. Embracing slow, joyful living through beauty and creativity is Fleur’s ethos and her collection is designed with those principals in mind. Tell us about yourself and your creative journey!
I am a Contemporary Fibre Artist based in Upper Moutere at the top of Te Waipounamu. Art making has always been a part of my life since I was a small child. The art room was a haven for me throughout High School. For the past decade I have been working with fibre and mixed media to create my contemporary heirloom art pieces that are inspired by nature, vintage textiles and embroidery. Sharing my journey and learnings is a part of my purpose so I love nothing more than gathering a room of creatives to make weird and wonderful things together! Creating my Love & Keep Collection with Tikitibu is an extension of this sharing. I love knowing that these art objects we've created bring more beauty, joy and creativity into peoples lives in practical and inspiring ways.
How long have you worked with Tikitibu?
Just over a year now, releasing my first collection has been a dream realised!
What is your favourite product from your collection at the moment?
The Flora Glasses Case! it has been traveling with me as I workshop around Aotearoa & Australia and paired with the lens cloths is something I use daily and now have one in my car too for my sunnies. So handy and the velvet has people reaching out to touch it and admire it often.
