Tell us about yourself and your creative journey!
Based in Kirikiriroa (born and raised) but whakapapa back to a place called Waimana, ko Tūhoe toku iwi. We make contemporary Māori kākahu, whakakai (jewellery) and a variety of other products, which ranges from outdoor art installations to graphic/ logo designs to uniforms and trophies. All sorts really. I (Nichola - Founder/CEO/Creative Director) have been a creative lil talent since I was young… but really found my feet as a teenager. Knew then that art and design was my passion. In fact I started a fashion label with my bff called Saturdaze… it didn’t eventuate to anything back then… but it definitely was the seed to my pakihi journey.
How long have you worked with Tikitibu?
We have worked with the Tikitibu team for a few years now (seems like a couple but probs way more.) We initially met at an event, and have been mates ever since!
What is your favourite product from your collection at the moment?
My Fave product at the moment is our ngutu manu earrings. Birds are just so significant to us as Māori… I always see them as a ‘tohu’ for any things. I really really love them and the pūrakau they hold!
