Whakamahara.
To remember, to remind.
Choose what to hold tight to.
This design uses colour as a storyteller. Black reflects te po, with stripes of light slowly entering the dark. Whero acknowledges both the pain that can sometimes accompany our memories and the strength that hums through our blood - the long ribbons emphasising the flow through our tinana, our whakapapa.
The antiqued brass plaque is stamped "Tonu". "a manner particle that denotes continuance, permanence or exactness and follows immediately after the word it applies to." (Te Aka Māori Dictionary). You determine how it applies in your context.
Finally, the feather in the Whakamahara design represents freedom, a release from things we will unshackle ourselves from.
