P?wakawaka are small, friendly birds, native to Aotearoa / New Zealand. You will often hear them making loud ?cheeet, cheeet!? noises as they swoop and flit about like little acrobats, hunting for insects. They have the most beautiful fanned tail feathers that take up more than half the length of their body, enabling it to twist and turn quickly during flight.
